how to start building a treehouse

  • Build the platform.
    • Choose the right location for your treehouse. The platform should be located in a spot that is level and free of large branches.
    • Cut four 2x6s to the desired length of your platform. The length will depend on the size of your treehouse.
    • Assemble the platform frame by attaching the 2x6s together with 2-inch deck screws.
    • Place the platform frame in the tree and secure it with lag screws or treehouse brackets.
    • Cut four 2x4s to the desired length of the joists. The joists will run perpendicular to the 2x6s.
    • Attach the joists to the 2x6s with 2-inch deck screws.
    • Cut the plywood to the desired size for the platform. The plywood should be at least 1/2 inch thick.
    • Nail or screw the plywood to the joists.
